What is NLP?

NLP is the study of how our mind interprets information that it receives through our senses, into a 'language' that it can understand.

At the simplest level, NLP examines how it is that two people can have exactly the same life experience, yet interpret it differently, react to it differently and remember it differently – essentially why we are all different!

People tend to think that their model of the world is the same as everyone elses and consequently this has a profound effect on the way they think, behave and relate to others.

By understanding how each individual makes sense of the world through examining personality traits, preferred senses (sight, feel, hearing etc), beliefs, values and the way their mind filters information, we are able to see why people live their lives in the way they do. This gives us the ability to identify the negative thought patterns that can inhibit us in our everyday relationships.

A large number of techniques have been developed which can be used by people to improve their lives and the lives of people around them. NLP provides the tools to understand these processes and develop the individual's ability to adapt whatever they do that does not bring them the results they want, into processes that do.
